Our Mining Community Story
Who We Are
The Idaho Chapter of Women in Mining is a nonprofit organization made up of like-minded professionals from around the state who are leveraging their diverse experiences to change the perception of mining in the 21st century.
WIM Idaho is dedicated to educating Idaho citizens about mining’s vital contributions to modern life, informing decision-makers about the industry’s priorities and challenges, and making mining career opportunities accessible to new audiences.
In addition to our educational mission, WIM Idaho offers members meaningful opportunities to connect with industry professionals, share resources, and build lasting relationships that help advance our organization’s goals.
We welcome members to get involved through one of our four dynamic committees:
Communications and Social Media
K-12 and Legislative Education
Events and Fundraising
Scholarships
Led by passionate and engaged committee chairs, these groups actively advance WIM Idaho’s outreach and impact across the state.

Nina Dawson is an Environmental Engineer at Hecla Mining Company. She has been part of WIM since the Idaho chapter was founded and has witnessed firsthand the impact the organization can have on women in the industry. When she worked in consulting, she saw the mining industry through a different lens, but her involvement with WIM gave her a deeper understanding and appreciation for the work she was supporting and what mining truly means. Now, as a passionate advocate for the industry, Nina is dedicated to leveraging her technical and professional skills to strengthen the chapter's financial foundation and expand that same awareness and appreciation to others.

National Representative Alternate: Nan Wilson
Hello, I’m Nan. I love being a problem solver, digging into data, and finding ways to improve processes. I spend my time skiing at Schweitzer, driving four kids, volunteering with Girl Scouts, and daydreaming about travel. I grew up in the mining town of Kellogg and have been running our family business supporting mine operations since 2017.
I am a huge fan of WIM, the opportunities it provides for women to advance the mining industry, build connections, build ourselves, and collaborate with peers. My company, SVL, is a WIM corporate sponsor. I participate in WIM opportunities and conferences and I enjoy representing the Idaho Chapter.
